Composite material rollers
The continuous evolution of industrial machines is leading towards superior performance that is correlated to lower energy consumption, lightweight and easier handling. Such a scenario opens the door for the use of composite materials in all industrial fields.
Composite material rollers represent the core business of MEC INDUSTRIES and are manufactured starting from raw materials, i.e. fibers, resins and prepreg fabrics, through two distinct technologies: the Filament winding and the Wrapping.

The composite material cylindrical product is manufactured by continuous winding of fiber tows, i.e. glass, carbon, Kevlar, etc., that are being also impregnated in a resin bath, around a rotating mandrel. The desired mechanical features, according to customers’ needs, are obtained by adjusting the type of fibers and the winding angles with respect to the axial direction. The winding process is fully automated and is able to manufacture big size products, i.e. face length up to 7000 mm and diameter up to 1300 mm.
The composite material cylindrical product is manufactured by continuous overlapping of prepreg fabrics made with glass fibers, carbon fibers, Kevlar fibers, etc., around a rotating mandrel. The desired mechanical features, according to customers’ needs, are obtained by adjusting the type of prepreg fabrics and the sequence of the wrapped layers. The wrapping process is ideal for high mechanical quality performance products that have minimal diameter/length ratio. The manufactured products can reach face length up to 7000 mm and diameter up to 500 mm.
